Heritage Concerns Remain
North Somerset Council's own Heritage Officer raised important concerns during the pre application stage about the impact of the current proposal on the setting of the Church of All Saints and the surrounding rural landscape.
The advice states that the development would still alter the way people appreciate and understand the church from the surrounding agricultural land that contributes to its significance within the wider setting.
It also concludes that the current layout does little to overcome the issues identified in the previous application.
This is important because the earlier Butts Batch proposal was refused and later dismissed at appeal on 25 August 2022. The Planning Inspector found that the development would harm the setting of the Church of All Saints, the character and appearance of the area, the wider landscape, views from the south and the approach into Wrington.
KWAW believes these concerns remain highly relevant. Narrow views between houses and parked cars are not the same as preserving the open rural landscape and the setting of the village.
Residents may wish to refer to heritage, landscape, the setting of the church and the character and appearance of this part of Wrington when submitting their comments.

KWAW continues to review the application carefully and will keep residents informed as further information becomes available.
More Information Below
One of the Butts Batch fields is currently under crop, despite being shown as pasture in the developer's Design and Access Statement.
Recent photographs, taken five days apart, with the latest taken on 7 June 2026, show the field in active agricultural use. The crop has been identified as maize.
This raises questions about the accuracy of some of the information submitted with the application. The current agricultural use of the land is a relevant planning consideration.

This raises concerns about the accuracy of some of the basic details in the application. Productive agricultural land currently being used to grow food should not be dismissed lightly.
